Plant a Tree Today!
“The planting of trees can assuredly increase local precipitation, and can help reverse the effects of dryland salting… Trees are, for the Earth, the ultimate translators and moderators of incoming energy. At the crown of the forest, and within its canopy, the vast energies of sunlight, wind, and precipitation are being modified for life and growth. Trees not only build but conserve the soils, shielding them from the impact of raindrops and the desiccation of wind and sun. If we could only understand what a tree does for us, how beneficial it is to life on earth, we would (as many tribes have done) revere all trees as brothers and sisters… Without trees, we cannot inhabit the earth. Without trees we rapidly create deserts and drought, and the evidence for this is before our eyes. Without trees, the atmosphere will alter its composition, and life support systems will fail.”

Our donation form is currently available in two formats:
Even a few dollars can pay for the purchase or transplant of a sapling of a threatened species of Amazonian hardwood, a medicinal tree, or a fruit bearer. Whether traded for or whether from our own nursery and seed bank, our trees are planted in deforested areas of the Peruvian rainforest as part of integrated reforestation strategies that draw from Permaculture and agroforestry concepts. Put simply, we develop a lifelong relationship with the trees we plant holding a vision of growing back whole forests. The ongoing care and upkeep of these trees is a major part of what we do. We also maintain a map and database of all the trees planted through Camino Verde and offer tree “adoption” including a photograph, species information, and exact coordinates of “your” tree. The planting of a tree can also be offered as a gift. If you’d like to plant a tree in someone’s name for a birthday or holiday present please simply include that information with your donation. We ask $25 (US dollars) for a simple tree-planting donation, and $50 for tree adoption. These donations go to help support our small staff of local and native caretakers of the land, as well as the planting of the tree itself. Please follow the link below to find our “Plant A Tree Today” donation form, or simply send us a check by mail. If you would like more information on donating to Camino Verde and tax-deductibility, please visit Make A Donation.

“More and more it is being recognised that the tree provides the master-key to the reclamation, fertilisation and regeneration of arid lands. Where large numbers of trees are planted there is no need for elaborate irrigation schemes. Trees… with their complex root-systems, create their own irrigation channels in the soil, through which pass pure life-giving streams of water, laden with subsoil minerals which nourish other crops.”
